Freemount Lutheran Church recently hosted an event for Operation Christmas Child shoe box project on Saturday, November 16th at Freemount Lutheran Church. Approximately 30 people, both friends and family of Freemount joined together to help with this event. We had both young and old helping! Our goal for 2019 was 300 and we made it with 305 shoe boxes packed.
This project is a yearly project for us - whereas we collect items on a monthly basis. For example: January is socks, scarves, hats, gloves. April is combs and brushes and toothbrushes. September is bars of soap and washcloths. We collect during the year and store until it's time for the annual packing party. We ask our congregation to help with building our school supply kits and building our shoe boxes and they graciously help!
We have been in two parades this year to spread the word of our project. Pizza Hut of Lindsborg will be hosting a fundraising night on Thursday, December 5th and 15% of their proceeds will be given to our Shoe box project. Many thanks Pizza Hut! We will be hosting a concession stand the the Old Mill Museum in Lindsborg on Saturday, December 14th during their Old Fashioned Christmas celebration. Please join us in supporting this mission!
